A snorkel tour in the silent wonder of Indonesia, from coral reefs packed with marine life and muck locations filled with critters to channels with pelagic species
Overview
Join us on an adventurous quest to some of the Coral Triangle’s most iconic marine life. The Alami Alor, an intimate resort at one of Indonesia’s last frontiers, will be our base for exploring the region. During this trip exclusively for snorkelers, we will have the opportunity to visit a variety of snorkeling environments including numerous coral reefs, hunt for critters at muck snorkeling locations, and pelagic snorkeling in the Pantar Strait.
Trip Highlights
- Discover some of the greatest marine biodiversity on the planet! Alor reefs are home to sea turtles, hundreds of reef fish, and countless types of corals, sponges, and sea fans. Every day, we will be in a search for the region’s most iconic species, from the elusive Mandarinfish to the massive Mola Mola.
- For this trip, we fully chartered the Alami Alor Resort, a boutique hotel on the remote Indonesian island of Alor. We will be the only guests at the resort and have exclusive access to the house reef. Having the whole resort for ourselves allowed us to make a site selection exclusively for our group of snorkelers.
- The trip includes 8 boat snorkeling sessions in remote coral reefs on our dedicated boat, as well as a night snorkeling adventure. Most of visited locations will be pristine coral plateaux and drop-offs where reef life thrives, but we will also have a muck snorkeling to look for seahorses, rhinopias, wunderpus octopus and frogfish.
- All participants will be accommodated in Waterfront bungalows, featuring sea view and direct beach access. Enjoy unlimited snorkeling on the resort’s house reef, just a few steps from your room!

What should I pack for Iceland's changing weather?
Iceland’s weather can be unpredictable. Pack waterproof jacket and pants, warm layers including fleece or wool, waterproof hiking boots, warm hat and gloves, and thermal underwear. We provide crampons and safety equipment for glacier walking. Dress in layers for comfort throughout the day.
Is the glacier walking safe for beginners?
Yes, our glacier walks are suitable for beginners with basic fitness. Professional certified guides provide all safety equipment including crampons, harnesses, and helmets. They give thorough safety briefings and choose routes appropriate for the group’s experience level. No previous glacier experience required.
What is the best time to visit Iceland for this tour?
May through September offers the best conditions with milder weather, longer daylight hours, and accessible roads to highland areas like Landmannalaugar. Summer months provide the warmest temperatures and best glacier walking conditions, though Iceland’s weather can be variable year-round.
How much walking is involved each day?
Daily walking ranges from 2-4 hours on well-maintained paths and natural terrain. Most walks are easy to moderate difficulty suitable for average fitness levels. The glacier walk is the most challenging but manageable for anyone comfortable with 2-3 hours of hiking.
Can I see the Northern Lights during this tour?
Northern Lights are only visible during dark winter months (September-March). This summer tour focuses on Iceland’s natural wonders during extended daylight hours. For Northern Lights viewing, consider our winter Iceland tours offered from October through March.
